An Experience That Every Teenage Girl Should Have

Yesterday, I was at my sister Bekah's house, cleaning and getting it ready for them to come home on Friday. I didn't have any music, and silence makes me nervous, so I turned on their wedding video just for some noise. For part of their video, they did a segment where the video guy would ask Andy a question about their love story and then he'd ask Bekah the same question and it was super funny to hear how different they each answered. But the thing that really caught my attention was how happy they both sounded. This was seven years ago, mind you. And now through the years they've found even more happiness through their four beautiful children. So I was thinking about this and how they were able to obtain such happiness. And I realized something. It's because they deserved it. Bekah and Andy have both lived their lives in such a manner that their happiness was inevitable. Their marriage was such a beautiful and joyful thing because they knew that through their dilligence and obedience, that it can last forever. So as I'm sitting in their house listening and having these thoughts, it was a huge boost for me. A way to refocus myself. I know that I want to have everything that Bekah has one day, and to do that I need to live the way she did. Doing the little things and the big things that'll bring true happiness. So like I said in the title of this post, every teenage girl should have the experience of witnessing the love their older siblings have for their spouses. Especially for me, I worship the ground my siblings walk on. Since I was little, I've always wanted to be just like them. And they've all set wonderful examples, worth following.

I'm so grateful for them and for the wonderful people they married. When I get married, I'm gonna have a hard time finding someone as wonderful as Andy, Miranda and Brett. But I know that if I continue to choose the right and do the little things, then I can become the kind of person worthy of Prince Charming.

And that is what I plan on doing.

Realizations

Realization Number One:

I think it was Lindsey Layton, who once said that everybody needs to get the experience of going to the movies alone. Having a magnitude of respect for her I decided to do as she advised. So I went and saw Harry today. All alone. And although I was really disappointed by the movie,the experience was a sucess!

I LIKE seeing movies by myself!

Ever Been Attacked By A Bathroom????

I have!!!!

And not just once, mind you, THREE TIMES!!!

IN ONE WEEK!!!!!!

1. There I was just washing my face at the sink in my dorm room.

I bend over to rinse and....

BAM!!!

Head makes contact with faucet causing sharp shooting pain!
2. There I was just sitting on the toilet taking care so some business in the language labratory bano and.....
THE COVER OF THE TP HOLDER FLYS OPEN AND WHACKS ME ON THE HEAD!!!!
And on a zit mind you, which in turn, made my entire head ACHE!

3. There I was, once again taking care of business but this time in the bano a the MU.
I lift my dainty hand to get some TP and BAM my thumb gets cut on the blasted TP holder!!!!
I BLEED!!!!!

And somehow....

I lived to tell the tale!!!

A Little Piece of Heaven

Last night, I stepped out of the SRC after a satisfying workout, and what was there to meet me??
A beautiful downpour of rain!!!!!
As other people were rushing to get out of it, I took my shoes and socks off and proceeded to stroll back to my dorm.
Singing and walking as slowly as I could I still reached my destination all too soon.
Not wanting to miss out on the majesty that is an Arizona rain storm, I sat myself on a bench and enjoyed the wet goodness for a good 15 minutes.
And in those 15 minutes I was truly able to feel of my Heavenly Father's love for me.
How people can feel rain on their face and not believe that there is a God is beyond my mental capacity!
As I sat there, feeling the rain beat down upon me, I felt an innate calm, a peace that I haven't had in a long time and I truly was able to enjoy
A Little Piece of Heaven.

Turn That Frown Upside Down

I have this friend.

1. I have a HUGE zit on my forehead........

but two inches under it are my pretty eyes and fabulous eye makeup!

2. I have ALOT of homework tonight.......

but part of it is coloring and I LOVE coloring!!!

3. Today is Monday

but it's the LAST Monday I'll be spending here at ASU!!!

4. Church yesterday went by WAY too fast......

but it was just what I needed!!!!

5. I miss my sisters and Mary...ALOT.....

but because of glorious technology I'm still able to keep in touch with them!!!!!

Gross.

4. So I know I'm the only teenage girl in America to think this....

d. Ridiculous plot5. I'll admit, The Shreks, were funny. Other than that all they do is try to copy Disney and Pixar!

Looking For The Moments That Shine on July 16th, 2009

If I've learned anything in my short 16 years of life, its this:

The two best ways to get through a hard situation are

Prayer and Gratitude!

So it's time to put those into action! Instead of dwelling on all the negative things I'm going to make a list of the things I'm grateful for!

Moments that Shine

1. My amazing mother letting me keep her cell phone while I'm away from home!

2. My temperpedic pillow and mattress cover that allow me to sleep comfortably!

3. Free internet access!

4. I got to eat Taco Bell today!

5. My face has been clearing up lately!!

6. My big sister Bekah letting me raid her closet! (Half the clothes I brought with me were hers!!)

7. Combine 5 and 6 and you get 7.

I'm not going to lie, I've been looking pretty foxy lately!

I look in the mirror and I'm like

"Wow there is a cute teenage girl under there!"

8. Already got my homework done! Now I just have to study for my quiz and prepare for my oral presentation!

9. Air conditioning! In my dorm, in the MU, in the classes!!!

(Even if walking outside feels like stepping into an oven!!)

10. I am alive, healthy and I have the Holy Ghost to help me get through each and every day!!!

Wow!

It's like I didn't even realize how blessed I was!

Then I made my list and things just kept pouring out!!!!

So there it is folks, when you feel like you have it rough, say a prayer and then

A Day in the Life of Lui Na Li

*First of all, if you don' t know who Lui Na Li is, scroll down and read the previous post.*

7:15- Awaken to a loud Chinese song coming from your roomates alarm, then about 30 seconds later, get out of bed to turn off your obnoxious beeping alarm.

7:16- Say your prayers and get ready for the day. (Usually you only take about 10 minutes to do this but somehow your brain has been addled into thinking you need to put effort into your appearance while you're here.)

8:00- Go to the lounge and wait for the group so you can all trudge over to breakfast.

8:05- Make the treachorous march the MU (Memorial Union)

8: 15- Choke down some breakfast in the Pitchforks Cafeteria.

9:00- Go to language class with Fan Lau Shi (awesome teacher!!)

12:00-Head for lunch.

1:15- Back to the education building for culture class. (Monday was Calligraphy, Tuesday was knots and today was Chinese Festivals.)

3:45- Head to a computer facility to fill out your LingauFolio. (Stupid.)

4:30- A bit of free time before dinner. SRC anyone?

5:45- Back to the MU and Pitchforks for dinner.

6:30- Go to dorms or computer facility to do homework.

10:30- Head check, lights out and Night Night Na Li!

What's in a Name Part Four?

If I were Native American, my name would be

Little Raindrop.

I'm short and I love the rain.

If I were Latina, my name would be

Natalia.

Actually, as it is, my name almost was Natalia. That's what JerBear wanted, but my familiy protested saying that they wouldn't know how to pronounce it so I became Natalie.

Another side note: Natalie means Nativity and I just happened to be born on April 7th, the day after Christ's real birthday. I think that's pretty cool!

And if I were Chinese, or say, learning Chinese at a camp for two weeks then my name would be

Lui Na Li!!!

That's right folks, for the next two weeks I am no longer Natalie Lewis, I am Lui Na Li!

Pretty snazzy eh?

(Don't ask me what this means, because I don't know.)

In other news:

Chinese is possibly the hardest language ever and it is definately the hardest thing I have ever attempted to learn. Two days in and I can already feel my head spinning!!!

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Love that song!!!

But actually no, I'm leaving in a car....ten minutes down the road....

But either way I'm gone for two weeks!!

That's right folks I leave for ASU on Sunday!!

I'm REALLY REALLY excited!!!!

For those of you who aren't up to date, for the next two weeks I'll be living in the ASU dorms for the Chinese STARTALK program.

I'll be studying the Chinese language and culture!

Thankfully, I'll have free internet acess so I'll do my best to keep you all updated!!!!!

This weekend is filled with packing, cleaning, laundry and hanging out with Julie cause she's down for a few days!

Today is Ciara's Sweet Sixteen!!!!!

So I thought I'd show you some pictures and tell you all what I love about C!!!

(She's second from the left.) I love Ciara because she's always smiling!!!

No matter how difficult the situation she keeps her chin up and lights up everyone elses life!

She's always been a really good example to me. But not in a self-righteous way. She's very understanding and I feel like she's one of the few people who really "gets" me!

She's also one of the few people who I can be around for a long time and not get sick of!!

Even though we don't go to the same school anymore we've been able to keep a great friendship!

I know that doesn't happen for everyone and I attribute it to how wonderful Ciara is and how willing she is to hang out with me and put up with my crap!!

Ciara is one of the friendliest people I know!

She's not shy at all and has a contagious personality!

She's also SO easy to talk to!!

I could tell her absoloutely anything!!!

She's not afraid to tell me when I'm being lame or stupid or weird.

But she's not a jerk about it!

Basically, Ciara's one of those people who you can't help loving!

You're the best girl!!!

Here's a list I thought about today during summer school.

Types of People that RatalieNose Has the Utmost Respect For

*Note: It's not that I don't respect other types of people, these are just some that stand out to me*

1. Single parents

2. Members of the armed forces

3. Teachers (especially those of Jr. High notoriety)

4. Parents and siblings of individuals with special needs

5. People who dedicate their lives to helping and teaching those with special needs

6. People who are willing to stand out from the crowd

7. Individuals who do what they want to do, not neccesarily what their siblings do.

8. People in the food service industry (but mostly I pity the poor souls)

9. Women authors who stood out in their time, ie: Lousia May Alcott, Harriet Beecher Stowe ect.

10. (And I just thought of this one today) People who write history text books!!!!!

It's ridiculous!!!
