Oxy Moron

Sometimes,
I feel like a walking, talking oxy-moron.
*I dress like a prep,
but eat like a man.*
*I show open disdain for those of the male species,
and yet they're all I can think about.*
*I profess complete honesty and yet,
I lie to myself all the time.*

Five Words to Describe My Current Mood
1.Cranky
2.Uncomfortable
3.Restless
4.Unsure
5.Unpredictable

I'm Surrounded By Brilliance

So the essay from my previous post was written for my english class. Well I'm very blessed to have some of my FAVORITE people in that class. And they all happen to be geniouses. (Geni?)
So they also wrote essays and they were all AMAZING and I got some amazing quotes.
So I had to share!!! This is Susannah. She's on the right, with braces.
(The girl on the left is Alyssa, you'll hear about her pretty soon, her B-day's coming up.) Anywho, Susannah wrote about being discriminated against because of her religion.
My favorite quote:
"Marriage isn't a game to last until the fun is over, it's forever.
Want more from da Suze?? Visit here HERE.
Now you probably recognize Jessica from THIS post.
She wrote about blonde stereotypes.
Fabulous Quote: It's what's under the hair that counts.
SO SO TRUE!!
And this is my Sarah. She wrote about the time that she switched her focus from dance to swimming and the judgements people passed about it.
Favorite Quote: Dreams change, and so do people.
Can I get an amen??????
Everyone have a FABULOUS weekend!!!!!!

I Know Who I Am

I had to write the following essay for my english class and I really like it, so I thought I'd share.

I Know Who I Am
I’ve always been chatty. Always. I’d accepted that it was just part of who I was as a person. But I never imagined that it would become my defining characteristic! Let me set the scene for you; I’m sitting in room 602 at Whittier Elementary school. It’s the first week of sixth grade and Mr. Ianni is giving everyone a nickname by which they will be known for the entire year. When it came my turn, and I was given the name Jabber Jaws, I really wasn’t surprised. In fact, I kind of liked it. Little did I know that this name, or rather the meaning behind it, would plague me for the next several years.
In my mind, people expected me to be loud and talkative. So that’s what I was. I liked the attention it brought me. One day, a school counselor from my junior high walked into class and said: “There are three major forms of communication. Telephone, Telegraph and Tell-a-Lewis.” All through sixth, seventh and eighth grade I was loud, obnoxious and talkative. If I had been given a dime for every time I was told to shut up I would’ve been a millionaire. My parents were always receiving phone calls from exasperated teachers. I received warnings, dirty looks and detentions. But all the trouble I was getting in didn’t bother me like it should’ve. I was just being myself. Or at least that’s what I told myself.
I wish I could tell you that I remember in vivid detail the day I decided to change. But I can’t. All I can recall is that it was the summer before my freshman year. I was tired of my peers teasing me and egging me on, and I was sick of disappointing my parents. But most importantly, I was done letting myself down. Somewhere deep down inside of the dark abyss I call my heart and mind, I knew that being a “motormouth” or “jabber jaws” was not who I was. Being talkative was not my defining characteristic. Sure it was a part of me. But not the most important part. And that was the turning point. It was then that I promised myself that my parents would never get another phone call about me from one of my teachers. I wasn’t going to let a stupid label run my life.
It wasn’t like a big poof of dust and all my problems were solved. Every day in ninth grade I worked at it. And slowly but surely I began to redefine myself. I’m obviously not perfect, so I still slip up. I’ve had several close calls, but by some miracle, I’ve been able to stop myself just in time.
And sometimes, that label still comes back to haunt me. Last year in my choir class I was getting dangerously close to being the Old Natalie again. It didn’t do me any favors with the teacher, so this year I made the goal again. I would get my act together and I would do it fast. Well again, my hard work paid off. My teacher noticed the change and commented on it, giving me the encouragement I needed to continue on. However, not everyone was as impressed as he was. A dear friend of mine accused me of not being myself. In so many words, she said that Natalie is not Natalie if she’s not talking. I’m not going to lie, this stung.
But what it comes right down to, is that I know who I am and who I want to be and nothing anyone says or does can change that.

Either He's Bad Luck, or I'm Just An Accident Waiting to Happen

Remember this post??
Well if not, quick recap:
I went on a date with Tyler at the beginning of the summer and came home with an internal bruise on my neck.
Well last night, I went on another date with Tyler and came home with a bump on the back of my head.
Maybe Emily's right and I do need a helmet!!!
We were having an Ultimate Chicken Fight in my pool and I was on Ty's shoulders.
It was between us and one other couple, they backed us into the steps and pushed.
I hit my head HARD on the step.
So now I have a fun little bump that makes it so I have to sleep sideways.
Awesome.
Despite that, the date was SO SO FUN!!!!
We started out with a race at Frys to see who could get dinner for under $10, then we went to a park to eat. Since we weren't allowed to cook or heat anything up,Ty and I bought a HUGE sandwich that was seriously bigger than my head.
So we were at the park eating on a blanket when it starts POURING rain!!! Everyone started rushing to the ramada, but I wanted nothing more than to just sit there and enjoy it.
But Ty insisted that we save the food.
So we did, then we frolicked.
No joke.
We walked, skipped and ran around the park, doing cartwheels and acting like children while everyone else laughed at us.
NOBODY appreciates rain like I do.
Our frolicking was put to an aprupt end when the water balloon fight started.
Yes, a water balloon fight in the rain.
Pointess.
But amazing!!!
After the fight we found the remains of our mammoth sandwich all around the park.
Dang wind!!
But thankfully, the Ben and Jerry's was safe!!!
Then a muddy game of Sushi Tag began ending with us all covered in wet grass from head to toe.
The night ended with a Taco Bell run and two hours of swimming in our clothes.
Nights like that, make being a teenager bearable!!!!

Poetry Shmoetry

Last year, for english, I had to compile 30 days of poetry into a book.
Everyday we'd learn about a different type of poem and then we'd write one in that style.
The book is made of cute scrapbook paper.
The cover is rubber duckys.
I love it!
So since I was having writer's block tonight, I thought I'd share some of my poems.
*Please don't judge! I'm a terrible poet!!*
This first one was a complete joke, please recognize that fact!
Just Because
Just because I'm beautiful
Don't be hatin
Don't be jealous
Don't be giving me crap
Just because I'm beautiful
I'm better than you
I'm happier than you
My life is easier than yours
Just because I'm beautiful
I've got rock hard abs
I wear Hollister every other day
I'm too good for you
Just because I'm beautiful, don't feel bad.
Rain
Rain tiptoes sneakily
Like Robin Hood and his Merry Men
It comes to rejuvenate
Like an energy boost for the Earth
It starts out slow
Then builds and pounds like a thousand jackhammers
Then, like magic disappearing into reality, it's gone.
My Chair
My chair has been with me through the good and the bad
It has seen me be happy, angry and sad
The chair used to be clean
Once a long time ago
But due to tears, nail polish and mascara, that simply isn't so
My chair has held me as I sat all alone
It's let me rest as I've talked endlessly on the phone
The chair and I have been through everything together
I love ite even though it's not made out of leather
In My Future
My future probably won't bring lots of wealth
But an education, life and good health
I hope that my future includes Prince Charming
Whose wit and good looks will be quite disarming
He'll find me, love me, and sweep me off my feel.
Then take me back to his castle, his parents to meet.
We'll have a large family, with lots of love
Our strength will come from the Power above
And then one day when I'm ready to die
I'll gather my children around me and say goodbye.

High School Horrors: Part Two

So this next horror could happen anywhere but I'm just gonna call it a
High School Horror.
Anyone who knows me knows that I have this problem:
I CAN'T EAT WITHOUT SPILLING ON MYSELF
Well I made a discovery, the problem intensifies when I am around a male speicmen!!!!
Exhibit A:
The other day I was at Taco Bell for lunch sitting next to Rusty.
I was squirting my mild hot sauce onto my soft taco and....
SPLAT!!!!
Sauce on my new shirt.
LAME
Okay, ten minutes later.
I'm eating my soft taco and a piece a beef slips and falls
BETWEEN MY TWO SHIRTS!
So I'm sitting there waiting for everyone to stop looking at me so I can nonchalantly pull it out....
AWKWARD!!!
Exhibit B:
Today at school I'm sitting next to Tyler eating breakfast and drinking apple juice and...
DRIBBLE DRIBBLE DRIBBLE
APPLE JUICE ALL OVER MY SCRUBS!!!!!!
I had spots for the rest of the day.
I swear, I have problems.

Didn't You Hear? 50's the New 30!!!!

Here at EverybodyNose, you have been introduced to some of the most amazing people on this planet. And today, you get to meet the best of the best. My mother, Janet. Seriously people, she is the most important woman in my world. I would be ABSOLOUTELY NOTHING without her and everything she does for me. Here she is with her twin, Julie (my other mom.)
Since birth, my mom has taught me everything I know.
And as I grow, it seems that life gets harder every year.
But as my life gets crazier and it seems that everything in life is changing...
She is the ONE thing that I can always count on.
Anyone whose had the privelage of meeting mom knows that she is the ultimate Pollyanna.
That woman doesn't even know the meaning of the word pessimistic.

(Btw, in the above picture, she's the sand man. Bahahah!)
One of the many things my mom has given me, is her love of music.
My dad first fell in love with her when he heard her singing Oh That I Were an Angel in church.
And seriously, her voice is angelic, and normally I can't stand sopranos, but my mom's voice is something else.

Another thing about my mom that I love watching is her relationship with her sister.
She and Julie are seriously BFFAEAE and I want my relationships with my sisters to be just like theirs.

My mom truly knows the meaning of the word Sacrifice.
She lives it, every single day of her life.
Whether it means sacrificing her sleep to wake up with a barfing child or to give up her entire life to raise seven kids, that's just the way she is.

For some people, Service, is just a seven letter word, but for mom, it's a lifestyle.
Cooking extra dinners, driving someone elses kids around or just a kind word to someone who needs it, she's always there and knows just what to do to satisfy the need.

Being a hormonally charged, emotional teenage girl, I tend to sometimes throw my mom for a loop. But it NEVER seems to phase her. She's always there with a hug, a smile and a word of encouragement.

And don't forget inspiration.
My mom could turn a conversation about a bologna sandwich into a spiritually enlightening moment.
To her, the Gospel is everything and everyday I try to live the way that she does.

I will forever be indebted to my mother for the great pains she went through to bring me into this world. You see, whe I was born, I weighed 10 lbs, 12 oz.

My body aches just thinking about it.
If mom got one cent for every kind thing she did for someone else, she would be the richest person alive.

Another thing I love about my mom are her stories.
Some of my favorites:
When she and Julie switched places in school
When Grandpa got protective about her "buns"
Basically any of the stories from the store her family used to own.

Mom has never missed an event in any of her children's lives.
She's our number one cheerleader!

Now it's so fun to watch her enter her newest phase of womanhood.
Being a grandma!
But we all knew she was too young to be called grandma so she is Tutu.
(Grandma in Hawaiian.)

Because of my mom, I know who I am, why I'm here and where I'm going.
I know that I'm a Child of God and that through obedience I can live with Him and my earth family forever.
Thank you mom for being you.
For everything you've ever done for me.
I don't tell you nearly enough just how much I appreciate and love you.
Part of it is that it just can't be expressed in words.
Happy 50th Birthday Mom!!!!
You don't look a day over 30!!!!!

The Verdict

Here it is:
I think I will survive Jr. Year.
I may not do so without a few melt downs and alot of tears, but whatever it takes!
In honor of this realization, I have written a song.
Go to my playlist and listen to the last song as you read my lyrics.
I Will Survive
RatalieNose Edition
At first I was afraid about Jr. Year.
Anatomy, Trig and Chinese really made me fear.
But then I went on the first day
And I walked into my class
And I was okay.
And the day went by so fast.
Oh and I,
I will survive!
Oh as long as I do all my work I know I'll stay alive
I've got all my brains to use
And lots of really cute cute shoes
So I'll survive
I will survive
Hey Hey
P.S.
Thank you all so much for the love and support you showed in response to my last post! It really means alot to me!!

Ode to the New School Year

School starts on Wednesday
I'm nervous and weary
Everyone says Junior year's pretty dreary
I'm taking some classes that are bound to kill
But hopefully my brain with knowledge they'll fill

Chinese, anatomy, trigonometry too.
Does the sound of these make you feel blue?
My job in student council will be lots of work
But even when I'm stressed, I'll try to not be a jerk.

I'm hoping this year to create a new me
To fix some things, be the best I can be.
I know it won't be easy and sometimes I'll fail
And my faithful blog readers will have to hear me wail.

But wish me good luck as I start this school year
With you all behind me, I'll go forward with
No Fear.

I'm Baaaaaaaack!!!!

Can I just say that I am one of the most blessed girls in the world????
Because I am!
We just got home from Girls Camp today and seriously it was
JUST WHAT I NEEDED!!!
I'm still on Spiritual Overload and couldn't be happier about it!!!!

So several of you asked about the picture of me in front of the waterfall.
Well I'm lame and didn't pay attention to what it was called....
But Cherie knows so I'm sure she'll enlighten us all in the comments!!
And I think it's in Oregon....
I was staying with my aunt in Washington when we saw it and she lives REALLY close to Oregon.

Oh and about my hair....
Able hands (that aren't mine) and a curling iron can work miracles!!!
Normally my hair is thin, shiny and stick straight.
Its very nice when I'm in a hurry.

Love you all and I can't wait to catch up on everything I've missed!!!
